TPHP presents The Trance Sanctuary Competition Entry 2013 ::iTunes Only Bonus Mix::

The iTunes Only Bonus Mix

Why, hello, there.

Well, you may have noticed this week that there has been no podcast. Last week I felt in need of a break after many weekends of excess. This weekend promised to be just as busy and I anticipated not being able to get to my decks for a succession of weekends. But the bank holiday Monday has proved a metaphorical godsend. Not only do I feel thoroughly refreshed but I did manage a lengthy session behind the decks today.

But rather than upload the fruit of my labours now, an interesting little development this weekend (the details of which I will share in due course) mean I've decided to hold off. Another new chapter in the podcast beacons.

While you wait patiently for Episode 60, I thought why not upload my Trance Sanctuary competition entry from earlier in the year. But... as you may have already gathered, this is for my iTunes subscribers only. A special little thank you for all those that are wired their Phil-Harmonic fix directly every week. And, of course, a little incentive for anyone that's yet to jump aboard the podcast via the world of Apple.

A note about the mix itself. Trance Sanctuary, for those non-Londoners reading, is a new(ish) trance party making it's name in the heart of the capital city. It really is making huge waves, building a reputation for dodging the trouse and really attracting a hardcore trance following. I've been to two of them since moving to London (the first the very first week I came down in fact) and they really are brilliant events.

They ran a competition to win the opportunity to warm up the main room at The Egg in March. On reflection, this mix was clearly the wrong approach for the event I would have been warming up for. It was literally a 'jump being the decks and knock something up' approach and I went for 'big hitters' rather than overall mood - which is always ill advised for most warm ups. So, no real surprises why I didn't win. Believe me, I'm learning quickly that there's a world of difference between a podcast, a competition entry and playing out live for a room of people. All completely different angles.

But, that said, it's still a perfectly decent set and would have made an excellent episode of the podcast.

Anyway, enough talk. If you're already a subscriber on iTunes just refresh your podcasts to get this set. If you're not a subscriber, get with the programme and click the below icon.

The Phil-Harmonic Podcast Episode 59

Another podcast, this time a return to my tried and test Ibiza Specials format. I promised when shifting to hour long episodes that there would occasionally be 2 hour episodes along the way. Here is an example of that.

Normally a 'special' episode like this would be accompanied by a really lengthy blog entry but, after another weekend of outrageous excess, my brain can't quite manage that. So, apologies in advance for this rather pathetic entry. I'll let the set speak, more or less, for itself.

I'm not actually planning a trip to Ibiza in 2013 but I thought that needn't restrict me to actually delivering some Ibiza inspired music. They'll be 2 Ibiza Specials this summer - this one is all about cool, poolside vibes. Enjoy!

The Phil-Harmonic Podcast Episode 58

A day late, but better late than never. Why is this one late? Well, despite moaning about having a cold last week, I took it upon myself, unexpectedly might I add, to behave like a debauched idiot this weekend. Sunday was about sleeping, napping and then napping an ample amount more - not uploading this rugged, yet thoroughly banging, episode of TPHP. When will I learn, hey?

No need to ramble on this week. This is just another slice of driving goodness - last week's mitigating man flu notwithstanding.

The oldie I've ended on this week is pretty appropriate this week. There's obviously a lot of talk about Armin Van Buuren's new album, Intense at the moment. I'm yet to give it even part of a listen so far. But I thought I'd rewind us back to his 2008 album, Imagine. Going Wrong was hugely popular when it came out but seems to have ebbed away into the back of people's minds. Sean Tyas gives it the balls that vocal needs alongside it. A little reminder to everyone that something like This Is What It Feels Like has been in Armin's repertoire for a long long while now.

1. Tasadi & Aryas - Lost Garden [Sedna Recordings]
2. Ronski Speed feat. Ana – The Deep Devine (Gareth Emery Remix) [Euphonic]

5. Fisherman & Hawkins - A Place Called Yesterday (ReOrder Remix) [Arisa Audio] <<<(Phil's Tune Of The Episode)>>>
6. Robbie Van Doe - Sense Offender [Nu Depth Recordings]
7. B.Exp - Overmind (Thomas Datt Remix) [Perfecto]
8. Adam Navel - Supersensible (Daniel Kandi's Bangin Remix) [Always Alive]
9. Skyer - Eternal [Unearthed Records]
10. Billy Gillies - Daytona (Photographer Remix) [Edge EDM Records]
11. Armin Van Buuren feat. DJ Shah & Chris Jones - Going Wrong (Sean Tyas Remix) [Armada Digital <<<(The Phil-Harmonic Golden Oldie)>>>

All for now, everyone. I will not be gracing the Holy Land of dance music this year but that doesn't mean I'm not channelling my passion for the island into my podcast in this here year of 2013. The first of two Ibiza Specials come next week.... after Trance Sanctuary, of course. Laterz!

The Phil-Harmonic Podcast Episode 57

Hello all,

The Phil-Harmonic Podcast returns for its slower-tempoed, progressive/trouse leg on this (in the UK at least) fine, sunny bank holiday weekend. We are on the cusp of summer now; you can just about smell it in the air. Cider, festivals, barbecues, weddings even... the summer promises much.

In the immediate here and now, there's more good news in that I have a brand new, custom-built PC winging its way to me in the post. That may seem like an extremely geeky thing to announce publicly; But it's good news for all listeners of the podcast, as recording, converting and processing files all get a damn sight more reliable. Fewer glitches, fewer data errors, fewer occasions when Audacity crashes before I can save the file! It also gives me even more incentive to start on the producing road soon. Watch this space.

The bad news though (ready your miniature violin) is that I have a little bit of man flu this weekend. The excesses of the last few months have finally caught up with me. The two episodes I've done today (this and next week's upload) are definitely those of a jaded DJ - good efforts nonetheless, but not quite shining like recent episodes have done. A podcasting holiday may be in order in a few weeks time to recharge the batteries, but for now, we press right on....

This week's podcast has Rank 1's fingers all over it - a new single (Floorlifter), a new remix (Under The Gun), a track that was originally engineered by them (Humanoid) and the ending oldie is also from their own label, High Contrast Recordings. So, regardless of any sub-standard mixing you may or may not hear, the Dutch duo ensure the standard of tuneage is still top shelf.

New Israeli producer, Avi, also serves up two productions, a couple of absolute electro slammers including our 'Tune Of The Episode', Stream. Also... look out for Basque The Dog. He's a big fella!

THE PHIL-HARMONIC PODCAST EPISODE 57

2. Dannic - Clobber [Toolroom Records]
3. Tasadi & Aryas - Lost Garden (Faruk Sabanci Dirty Rock Mix) [Sedna Recordings]
4. Jochen Miller - Humanoid (Ali Wilson Remix) [High Contrast Recordings]
5. Solid Stone - Not Really [Saturate Audio]
6. Digital X - Stealth [Coldharbour Recordings]
7. Rank 1 - Floorlifter [High Contrast Recordings]
8. Conjure One feat. Leigh Nash - Under The Gun (Rank 1 Remix) [S107 Recordings]
9. Chris Schweizer & Tomas Heredia - Darksiders [A State Of Trance]
10. Bobina - Basque The Dog [Magik Muzik]
11. Mansel Scheffel - Cygnus (Avi Remix) [Inov8 Recordings]
12. Avi - Stream [Alter Ego Records] <<<(Phil's Tune Of The Episode)>>>

13. Marcel Woods feat. Elles de Graaf - Can't Sleep [High Contrast Recordings] <<<(The Phil-Harmonic Golden Oldie)>>>

Right, I'm off to bed to nurse my sorry ass back to health. See you next week!
