The Phil-Harmonic Podcast Episode 72

Hello all,

After its initial broadcast on Renegade Transmission on Saturday, Episode 72 has been a little delayed in making it onto SoundCloud, Mixcloud and here at our Blogspot HQ. But with good reason.

Over the last few months, change has definitely been in the air and this weekend it finally came to a head in what was, for me, the busiest but most satisfying weekend I've had for a number of months.

Not only was this weekend about finally dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s on a fantastic new place to live here in London, but it was about seeing off our old flat in style, a flat that, despite its many awful traits, has practically been at the centre of everything that has been fun about my life in the last 2-3 years. For the most part, it has been a fun-loving, dignity-free zone of boundless intoxication. A place with no respect for what time of day it is, or how high the sun is in the sky.

Even before I moved into the place in November of 2012, I had so many great memories of the fabled Hildreth Towers, yet the last 10 months have produced a constant stream of good humour, good company and all round good times. I’ll have more to say about that when I come to review the year I'm sure.

Inevitably, we had a house party to bring down the curtain and, my word, we rocked it. Transcend’s Ben Dursley came over from Bristol to help me with DJing duties, the flat was full and people were dancing until the room shook. Again, massive thanks to everyone who came and helped create that one last great memory of that inexplicably special place.

And kudos to Fisherman & Hawkins for this rather excellent Twitter response today. More brownie points in the close run race for Tune Of The Year 2013.

Our new house signals a significant change in the tide. There will definitely be good times, there will definitely be good company, there will definitely be trance – but Hildreth was a one off kind of place. An era of cleaner living beckons.

The podcast itself this week is one of my typical prog-tech rides through the slower end of the spectrum, ending rather surprisingly on the 138 Pulser classic, Cloudwalking. Look out for Harry Square’s remix of Waves (which is rather massive) and I've opened with Andrew Bayer’s England, which was Norin & Rad’s opening track when I saw them at Ministry way back at Easter. Huge tunes!
